Clinical History

Section of fallopian tube taken from a patient with a 6 cm solid ovarian tumour.

Case Discussion

This patient had a Krukenberg tumour of the ovary: involvement by metastatic signet-ring cell cancer. The section of tube demonstrates lymphovascular deposits of these signet-ring cells. The ovary is a site for metastasis mainly from gastrointestinal and breast carcinomas, although trans-tubal spread from cervical cancers have also been reported.
