Case Discussion

Acinic cell carcinoma (ACC) is a malignant salivary gland tumor that commonly affects the parotid gland. Complete surgical resection is usually the treatment of choice. ACC is generally associated with good prognosis although recurrence may occur. A characteristic feature of acinic cell carcinoma pertains to the presence of zymogen granules, which are dense blue to purple, fine to coarse, granules that are generally PAS(+) and diastase-resistant.
