Case Discussion

Follicular lymphoma is a non-Hodgkin B-cell lymphoma that is often indolent. The cells resemble lymphoid germinal centre B-cells, and often demonstrate a t(14,18) translocation with overexpression of the anti-apoptotic protein bcl2. WHO grading of follicular lymphoma depends on the number of large centroblasts within the tumour. In this case, centroblasts exceed 15 per high-power fields, without solid sheet-like growth. This meets the criteria for Grade 3A.
