Case Discussion

Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common slow-growing, benign tumour of the salivary glands. It most frequently involves the parotid gland. This benign epithelial tumor shows both epithelial, myoepithelial elements, and mesenchymal components with myxoid, mucoid, and/or chondroid material. There is architectural diversity and mixed luminal ductal cells and luminal supporting cells. Rarely, pleomorphic adenomas can undergo malignant transformation. Tumours are positive for cytokeratin, p63, GFAP, and S100 protein.
