Case Discussion

Epithelioid hemangioma is an uncommon cutaneous tumor, also known as angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia. Clinically, epithelioid hemangioma presents as erythematous, superficial plaques or nodules of a few centimeters in diameter. It is often found in the head and neck region, and has also been reported to occur in muscles and bone. Although it is benign, recurrence may occur with incomplete excision.

Microscopically, there are numerous proliferating blood vessels lined with epithelioid endothelial cells in the dermis and subcutis. There are also variably dense associated infiltrates of lymphocytes and eosinophils. The inflammatory infiltrate may obscure the vascular component.
