Case Discussion
Kaposi sarcoma is a malignant vascular neoplasm associated with human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8). Sections show a lesion characterized by prominent spindle cell proliferation and slit-like spaces containing red blood cells. A lymphocytic infiltrate is typically present. By immunohistochemistry, CD31, D2-40, ERG and HHV-8 are positive.
