Case Discussion

Fibromatosis-like metaplastic carcinoma is a low-grade variant of metaplastic carcinoma thought to be associated with a favourable prognosis. It is characterized by bland spindle cells arranged in variably sized fascicles. Often, as in this case, clusters of plumper spindled-to-epithelioid cells are found that demonstrate strong p63 and CK5 immunoreactivity.

This slide shows H&E stain. See Related Content for CK5 and p63 stains.
