Case Discussion

A ganglion cyst is a benign soft tissue lesion that often occurs in the tendons of the wrist and ankle. The cysts are caused by leakage of fluid from the joint into surrounding fluid. Sections show a cystic structure with wall composed of dense fibrous tissue. There is a thin single layer of flat epithelium (synovial epithelium) lining the cyst.
