Case Discussion

Venous hemangiomas are rare benign tumours of intramammary stroma, usually measuring between 1-5 cm. They are composed of large dilated venous channels surrounded by smooth muscle. SMA can be used to highlight smooth muscle bundles within vessel walls, while CD34 can be used to label endothelial cells. This slide shows cores of a vascular lesion composed of irregular dilated vascular channels lined by bland endothelial cells. Focal perivascular lymphocytic infiltrate is also seen.
