Clinical History

In spongy bone, the components of the bone are arranged in an irregular pattern of branching and anastomosing spicules. In developing bone, connective tissue lies in the spaces between the spicules. In adult spongy bone, haematopoietic bone marrow lies between the spicules. Spongy bone is also known as cancellous bone or trabecular bone.
