Clinical History

75 year-old female with query uterine fibroma.

Case Discussion

Mesonephric carcinoma is a rare variant of adenocarcinoma arising from mesonephric remnants. It therefore commonly arises from lateral cervical wall or lower uterine segment. It is NOT associated with high risk HPV. On histology it shows a haphazard infiltrative growth pattern with a variety of architectural patterns including tubular, slit like spaces, papillary, solid and spindle cell patterns. Tumor cells are uniformly positive for vimentin, calretinin and CD10 (apical and luminal) while they are negative for ER/PR. These tumors are mostly indolent with a propensity for late recurrences.
